Most People Take Things Like Underwear For Granted.

St. Raphael Catholic Church shares its annual Unday Sunday Drive with DuPage PADS and Transitional Housing Supply Closet through Bridge Communities.

DuPage PADS helps people obtain a place to call home – DuPage Pads provides interim and permanent housing and support services to end homelessness in our communities.

Transitional Housing, our long running ministry partnering with Bridge Communities, provides housing for at risk single Moms and their children and volunteer parish mentors guide them to independence and self-sufficiency.

One Sunday in October, new packaged underwear is collected to benefit the children and adults who receive support from the DuPage PADS program and diapers for babies and toddlers in Transitional Housing.

We also partner with our school, with all school age children getting involved in collecting items of need. Involvement of our school children fosters generosity, and teaching kids about the importance of charity at a young age can empower them to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Engaging in charitable acts can also have a positive influence on children and help them develop many valuable life skills such as kindness, compassion, respect, responsibility, and gratefulness.

All sizes of underwear, undershirts, onesies, and diapers are needed. Depending on the need, socks are collected as well.

Volunteers are needed to:

  • 1 – 2 people needed to collect donated items from the school and from the Narthex and store
  • 1 – 2 people needed to sort and count items
  • 1 – 2 people needed to deliver items to DuPage Pads Client Service Center: 1113 Butterfield Rd., Downers Grove and Transitional Housing Closet in Naperville.
