Rainbows for all Children is a peer support group, led by trained facilitators, for children who are grieving the loss of a loved one due to death, divorce, deployment, incarceration, a long-term illness, or another life-altering event.  Over 83% of children in the U.S. will experience one or more of these traumatic events at some point during their childhood. The program brings children of the same age level together in small groups to share their feelings through activities, games, and discussion. These sessions are intended to be a peer support group and are not intended to substitute for professional counseling.

The Rainbows program is free for all participants, in groups for children 1st-8th grade through our Rainbows program and for K-pre-K (age 4+) through our Sunbeams program. Although St. Raphael is a Catholic community and a faith-based organization, Rainbows for all Children is not. Rainbows for all Children is a secular support organization for children of all economic, racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds.

Groups meet on Thursday evenings, 6:15-7:15 PM at St. Raphael in Naperville (1215 Modaff Road) beginning September 6th– November 8th for the first session and January 17th-March 14th for the second session.

If you have a child who would benefit from the Rainbows program and would like to register or wish to volunteer as a group facilitator, please contact Barry O’Donnell at (630) 615-7613 or Henrietta Christenson at (630) 579-6595. More information about the Rainbows program can be found at rainbows.org.
